I teach 5th and 6th grades for Montrose Elementary School. The 5th graders will learn about many topics this year. The students will learn about the solar system, classification of animals, simple machines, weather, and the water cycle. The 5th grade students will also learn about the history of the United States. The students will focus on fractions, geometrical shapes, and much more. This year the 6th grade will focus on the energy of light and sound, matter, ecosystems, and earth's resources. The students will also learn about world history. They will also focus on fractions,multiplying decimals,dividing decimals, and more. Each grade will have the opportunity to work in a group to read and discuss literature set books. Some of the books the students will be reading are Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, The Tale of Despereaux, Shiloh, and many more. The students will also learn the processes of writing through writer's workshop and will eventually write a research paper.
